Annual Exams
Annual exams are not only the time to receive preventative health screenings, such as Pap smear testing, pelvic examination, clinical breast management, and osteoporosis risk assessment, but it is also a time to review your medication management and discuss your health concerns with our board certified physicians and nurse practitioners.
It can be helpful to write down your symptoms and bring it to your appointment. Our compassionate female gynecologists and nurse practitioners will genuinely listen to you and give you the time you need at every visit to explain your concerns and suggest a treatment plan. Please read further to learn about the annual exam and preventative health screenings that we offer.
Pap Smear & Pelvic Exam
A yearly Pap smear test is a preventive measure to detect precancerous or cancer cells on the cervix. Cervical cancer that is treated early statistically has the best outcomes, and precancerous cells are almost 100% curable when detected through testing and treated.
At DaVincii Obstetrics & Gynecology we recommend that annual pap smear testing and pelvic examinations begin when a female becomes sexually active or after the age of 21.
Breast Exam
At DaVincii Obstetrics & Gynecology we are here to educate you about breast cancer and self-breast examinations. We will perform clinical breast examinations as part of a yearly checkup. If you notice a change in your breasts between your appointments, always contact us.
Our providers will refer you for mammogram screening to any of our trusted breast centers, including Beaumont, who offers advanced breast imaging services throughout the metropolitan Detroit area, including digital and 3-D mammography, breast ultrasound and breast MRI. These digital images give a detailed look of your breast structure to help detect cancerous changes. Breast cancer is common, and in some cases, early diagnosis and treatment is associated with the best outcomes.
Osteoporosis and Bone Density
Osteoporosis is a common and progressive disease that causes bone loss and is more common in women. Treatment can help slow the progression of osteoporosis, helping to prevent further bone loss and fractures that can lead to disability. We will evaluate your risk factors and refer you for bone density screening if necessary. Lost bone cannot be replaced, but further bone loss can be prevented. At DaVincii Obstetrics & Gynecology your health is our number one concern, today and in the future.
Womens Health
Endometriosis
Endometriosis is an abnormal growth of uterine lining tissue outside of the uterus and is common in females. Endometriosis needs monitoring and treatment may be necessary to relieve pain and prevent complications, such as the inability to get pregnant. Endometriosis can be a debilitating disease that can significantly affect your quality of life.
The doctors and Nurse Practitioners at DaVincii Obstetrics & Gynecology have up-to-date expertise for diagnosing and treating endometriosis.
Uterine Fibroids
Uterine fibroids are often non-cancerous tumors that grow in or on the uterus. They are quite common and may or may not cause symptoms. Typical symptoms can be pain or heavy periods, depending on their size and location of the fibroid.
Bothersome uterine fibroids are treated with medications or if necessary, surgery. Our surgeons are some of the very few in the area that are comfortable with minimally invasive surgery for fibroids. If it is necessary, many patients are referred to our practice specifically for minimally invasive surgery for fibroids. Our experienced female gynecologists are ready to discuss your concerns and the best treatment options available.
Ovarian Cysts
Ovarian Cysts can be common and very painful. Our in-office ultrasound can help diagnose when they occur and help us to follow them to resolution. We offer options to help prevent them and can discuss the best treatment plan tailored to your needs.
Abnormal Uterine Bleeding
Abnormal uterine bleeding can affect women at any age and at any reproductive stage in life. It can range from irritating to debilitating and markedly affecting one’s life, both personally and professionally. There are many options to control this bleeding whether one is still interested in childbearing or finished with it. Surgery is not the only option for the bleeding and with many choices to control abnormal bleeding, the providers at DaVincii Obstetrics & Gynecology have the expertise in the most advanced treatment options and will guide you in choosing what treatment is best for you.
Polycycstic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormonal disorder that can cause infertility, excess hair growth, and irregular, heavy or even absent periods. There are different treatment options to help with polycystic ovary disease. Please make an appointment to discuss your concerns with one of our female gynecologists to see what treatment choice would be best for you.
Prolapse Disorder
Pelvic organ prolapse happens when the muscles and tissues supporting the pelvic organs (the uterus, bladder, or rectum) become weak or loose. This allows one or more of the pelvic organs to drop or press into or out of the vagina. This can contribute to discomfort, urinary incontinence, and pain during intercourse. Prolapse disorders most frequently occur in women who have given birth vaginally.
Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD)
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are infections that are passed from one person to another through sexual activity. STDs may or may not produce symptoms, but can have severe consequences for females, developing babies during pregnancy, and breastfeeding infants.
If you suspect that you may have an STD, please do not hesitate to make an appointment with one of our female gynecologists as soon as possible. Many STDs are treatable, and we can educate you on how to prevent getting or spreading them.
Menstruation Care
Most females will experience menstruation problems at one time or another during their lifetime. Heavy, painful, irregular, or even absent periods, are especially common among teens.
Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), a severe form of PMS, are real conditions with real symptoms. At DaVincii Obstetrics & Gynecology we are here to help you treat your symptoms. We are ready to listen to your concerns and provide you with the best treatment options, so you can look forward to more comfortable periods.
Heavy Periods (Menorrhagia)
The menstrual cycle is not the same for every woman. Your cycle can be heavy or light, regular or irregular, long or short, painful or pain free. Menorrhagia is when you lose a substantial amount of blood during your period cycle. If you find that you are soaking through your sanitary pads or tampons, you need to double up on protection to control your flow, have heavy menstrual flow that interferes with your life, or if you have symptoms of anemia (fatigue, tiredness, shortness of breath) please schedule an appointment to discuss your symptoms with one of our female physicians. There are many options to manage your bleeding that do not always include hormones or major surgery. Let us help you control your periods so they do not control you.
Painful Periods (Dysmenorrhea)
Many women experience cramping in their lower abdomen or back each month during their menstrual cycle. This cramping is called dysmenorrhea and can vary in severity from woman to woman. For many, their cramping can be managed with over the counter medication but for some it interferes with their daily life.
If you are experiencing menstrual cramping that is interfering with your normal daily activities, please schedule an appointment to go over causes and treatment with one of our female physicians.
Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)
Premenstrual syndrome, widely known as PMS, refers to the physical and mental symptoms that many women experience before and during their monthly menstruation. Many women manage their symptoms with over the counter medicine and home remedies but for some they are more severe.
These symptoms can be extremely uncomfortable and can even interfere with your daily life. Please schedule an appointment with one of our female physicians to discuss how we can help you relieve and manage your symptoms.
Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD)
Premenstrual dysphoric syndrome (PMDD) is a more severe form of premenstrual syndrome (PMS). While the exact cause of it is unknown, it may be caused by an abnormal reaction to monthly hormone changes. These abnormal hormone changes can cause a decrease in serotonin levels which can lead to a wide variety of symptoms. PMDD symptoms can include depression, anxiety, severe fatigue, irritability, crying spells, insomnia, nausea, constipation, acne, headache, dizziness, fainting, diminished sex drive, food cravings, and hot flashes.
Family Planning
Women now have more options than ever when planning for a family or choosing a form of birth control. The physicians at DaVincii Obstetrics & Gynecology will present you with several options and help you select the right method to fit your lifestyle. We offer the latest advances in contraception, including hormonal and non-hormonal options.
Intrauterine Devices (IUD)
If you are looking for a nonsurgical, reversible birth control method that lasts three to five years, IUDs may be your best option. An IUD is a T-shaped device placed into the uterus at your in-office visit. The procedure takes only a few minutes and is >99% effective in preventing pregnancy. IUDs work by thickening cervical mucus to block sperm entry into the uterus; the synthetic hormone progesterone adds an additional layer of protection against any sperm that may make it past the cervix. Some women also find that an IUD lightens their periods.
DaVincii Obestetrics & Gynecology offers every IUD that is currently on the market including: Mirena, Liletta, Kyleena, Skyla and Paragard.
Hormonal Contraception
Hormonal birth control options work by inhibiting the bodies natural hormones to prevent pregnancy. Each option contains a small amount of estrogen and/or progestin hormones. There are many different options which allow you to pick one that best fits your lifestyle. Options include: pills, patches, rings, implants and injections. Some options prevent the body from ovulating while others change the cervical mucus to make it difficult for the sperm to find an egg. Please schedule an appointment with one of our female physicians to discuss which form of contraception is the best for you!
Non-Hormonal Contraception
Nonhormonal forms of birth control includes IUDs, diaphragms and permanent sterilization. Please schedule an appointment with one of our female physicians to discuss which form of contraception is the best for you!

Menopause & HRT
Menopause, or “the change of life,” is a normal and natural part of a woman’s aging process. Usually occurring in their 40’s or 50’s, every woman’s menopause experience is unique and treatment is focused on symptomatic relief. When the time comes that your menstrual cycle and reproductive period ends, proper education and treatment are important in treating the symptoms of menopause.
Post-menopausal women may be at an increased risk of certain medical conditions like cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, and incontinence, which is why menopause management with DaVincii Obstetrics & Gynecology and their experienced practitioners is so important.
Menopause Symptoms
Age of onset, duration, and symptoms differ among women as each of us is unique. Some of the many uncomfortable symptoms that may accompany menopause include: hot flashes or chills, night sweats, mood changes, decreased libido, irregular or missed periods, sleep problems, fatigue, weight gain, depression, vaginal dryness, thinning hair, & dry skin.
Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)
Hormone replacement therapy is a tool used to help balance estrogen and progesterone in women around the time of menopause.
Also known as hormone therapy (HT) or menopausal hormone therapy (MHT), hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can help relieve sweating, hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, vaginal dryness as well as other symptoms of menopause. It can also reduce the risk of osteoporosis.
HRT can contain both progesterone and estrogen, only estrogen or progesterone, and sometimes testosterone for decreased sex drive. We also have non-hormonal options available as hormones are not the right choice for everybody. We work closely with a compounding pharmacy to offer you the best combination for your needs.
